Cbanker: Transferring Sberbank control to another state co rumors
MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- Reports about the Russian central bank’s plans to transfer a controlling stake in top lender Sberbank to another state firm are rumors, First Deputy Chairman Sergei Shvetsov told reporters on Tuesday.
He said such rumors have been voiced for 20 years already.
Reuters reported citing sources that Russian officials are in talks to transfer the central bank’s stake in Sberbank to another state entity amid growing unease about the central bank’s role as both owner and supervisor.
Russia’s central bank directly owns 50% plus one share in Sberbank’s capital.
